Did you know that one of the fastest growing fitness clubs offers monthly free pizza night?  The creators of this gym are brilliant.  Really good marketing and the price tag is just too good to pass for people on a tight budget.   I get it and I support smart business ideas.  What actually bothered me about this was not the pizza and the “we cater to people who only want to go to the gym a few times a month”.  What got me was they are targeting the people who are intimidated by the idea of CrossFit, or embarrassed about the way they look, or nervous they will be the most out of shape in the room, or whatever the reason that makes them feel like they aren’t appropriate for CFSL (or any CrossFit affil.).   So now this group is encouraged to join a place where the goal of said place is to make a certain other group of people feel unwanted.  I have a novel idea, how about we all start supporting each other and supporting ourselves?

I get numerous emails from people asking if they are too out of shape to start here at CFSL or if the community is welcoming, etc.   That was me five to six years ago, so I feel their pain.  I know where they are coming from, so I do my best to convey how awesome we are.  Until they walk in, they will never know.  It warms my heart that there isn’t a person out there that our group of trainers couldn’t safely work with.   That’s not to say that every person is jumping right into basics and then regular class.  It could take months for that, but we definitely have the knowledge to get them going.  As well as the love and support for our fellow man to not treat them like sh*t for not fitting some riduclous image of fitness.   –end soap box

Skill:

Snatch Work: 5×2 light weight: work on technique/speed/full squat/etc.

WOD:

“The Bear Complex”

Complete 5 Rounds of 7 Cycles Through the Following:

  • Power Clean
  • Front Squat
  • Push Press
  • Back Squat
  • Push Press

So you will do the above list of exercises in order, then repeat that order 6 more times to complete one ROUND.  Do you follow me?  Each round you will go up in weight.  During a round you may never let go of the bar!  If you let go, you start over on that round.   YAY!  Use a weight that is appropriate for you.
