The Amazing Grace/Barbells For Boobs fundraiser we are hosting at the end of the month is only 11 days away. Last year we had 26 people participate. So far this year we have 11 people signed up. I really want you guys to get registered for this event to help a wonderful organization. I have copied some info about the company and what they are all about. I have heard some concern about not being able to do the weight, etc. Please know that many of the people signed up will not be doing the Rx weight. Furthermore, it’s not about the weight, it’s about raising money and having a blast. In the meantime we will be getting our workout on! What a win-win!
How they started: Zionna Munoz founded MIA after her best friend was diagnosed with Stage 0 Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS) breast cancer at the age of 26. Due to her young age, there was little concern about the potential of breast cancer and she experienced many challenges in accessing breast health care services. Her courageous journey and strong survivor spirit inspired the creation of Mammograms In Action as a proactive voice and supportive resource in the fight against breast cancer. MIA stands for Mammograms In Action (the full name of the organization that started Barbells For Boobs/Amazing Grace)
Their mission: Mammograms In Action (MIA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit breast cancer organization with the mission to provide funding for qualified low-income and uninsured women and men who need screening and/or diagnostic procedures in the prevention of breast cancer.
Most of us know someone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Thankfully, the majority of those people are still with us today because of the advancement in detection and treatment. MIA wants to make sure people who may not be able to afford these services have them available so they too can have a much better chance of survivorship because of early detection.
Plan to stay for a Halloween party afterwards. Non-CrossFit members are also welcome to participate in the event. Let’s do this!
Teams of Two:
15 Box Jumps (24″ 20″)
Teammate one is doing box jumps, teammate two is holding plank. If plank teammate comes out of plank, the whole team must immediately do 3 burpees. After the burpees, box jump teammate will do the remainder of box jumps and plank teammate resumes holding plank. Switch places until each team mate has completed 5 Rounds each.
